Hey guys,

I am working on my Mesmer at the moment in hope to be able to do more SC. I am aware that Mesmers are often used in DoA speed clears, but I am also hoping to be able to join some FoW or UW SC's as well so that I can finance my Obsidian Armor. I am fairly new to this part of the game so I am not sure how in demand Mesmers are in FoW and UW speed clears.

thanks for the links, I had screened through them already. My question was more in regards to whether or not the builds that include Mesmers are frequently run by groups. I understand that there has always been a need for Sins and Monks in the current meta-game, but as its always changing I wasn't sure wether or not people are still looking for Mesmers in their groups. There being builds that include Mesmers is one thing, but wether or not these builds are actually used this time around is another. Apologies, I should have worded it more specific.

I do E-Surge Pain inverter spiker in Underworld A LOT, it is great fun and the team loves a good quick clean spiker

Taking dhuum down to the lowest hp so when the rest is full it ends uw isntantly :P

DoASC is gonna be the fastest way to get the obsi, so if thats all you want then just stick to that. Otherwise, its probably better to make a sin and learn all the tanking roles (watch others first, then do yourself).

Agreed Jono, that was my initial plan but I was hoping to get some variety into my gameplay lately. Appreciate all the input.

In my opinon esurge spikers are complety useless and i will oftern reject them from my groups to replace them with a dwg which is a much cleaner and quicker spike. The mesmer's main use in uw is as a mesmer lt which can achive times of 8 mins with uwg completed, you have to be a good player to do this obivously. They are also used in fow in mes spike which can achive times of 12 mins in causals if you have a decent team. while they are used in doa if your just starting you will find it hard to get into a good doa guild, so i would reccomend making a sin or getting their ranks up if you wana make a bit of cash and just start off in speed clear's.

^Pretty much what they've said.

As mesmer (except DoA) you can:
-do Fowsc Mesway (usually using a T3, and both those things makes it not very used in pugs)
-do UBway uwsc (which again, isn't that used in pugs - and is considered a bit slower)
-do Lt as Mes (which means be a good player, who already know the role and can trow in pcons)
-do Esurge spiker.

The last one is the role you should look foward to do whit your mes if you just want getting started, but there are tons of different builds for spikers, so some groups prefer some to others.

Mesmers are rarely used in pug groups except for UWSC (where they are far inferior to glaive) and FoWSC (Me/N MoP is possible but it is pretty awful unless its run by a good player, and N/A is arguably still better). If you want to use a mesmer for speedclears then its probably best to join a DoASC guild who also do some FoW mes spike - most half decent SC guilds use mes spike now. All of these builds can be found on PvX.

TL: DR it is possible to use mesmers in fow and uw SC's, but they are usually inferior to the alternatives that they replace.
